Marsh Green Farm, formerly known as Bungalow Farm was part of the Bourne and Nodder Estate of Ashover since around 1630. The farmstead shows on maps from 1818 and is identified in 1819 as a Timber Yard. Records show this to be held by Cundy Bros and was used as a sawmill. The site was used as a Farm from the late 18th Century to date. In the 1960’s it was developed into a Dairy Farm by the Nodder Estate and became known as Bungalow Farm.
In 2007 the Nodder Estate Trustees decided to dispose of the Farm and surrounding farmland and woodlands. Marsh Green Estates Ltd purchased the farm with sitting tenants under an Assured Term Tenancy.
Following Marsh Green Estates Ltd’s review of the Farm’s structure and its ability to operate as a viable farming business Marsh Green Estates Ltd formulated a business plan for the future of the farm and thus Marsh Green Farm and Farm Shop was born thanks to funding from DEFRA and BNED Leader and backing by local councillors and NEDDC Planning Department.
Marsh Green Farm is still a working farm and is the home to our very own Pedigree Herd of Longhorn Cattle.
